After 2 nucleus drops things are beginning to settle down. The outlook is not so bleak. Though as far things are concerned regarding emmigrating abroad, it is becoming a challenging proposal. But then nothing in life came easy t me, though in the final round, it always came. Bits send me the canada's scoring system. Moni said that there is a way to ozzy as doc without exam. I got to ask that lady doc. the one if i am not mistaken took care of vicks grandpa in her icu. its sos trage how things in life converge and diverge.

Catastrophic day

2 nucleus drops in my name. that on a day when i was at my most confident doing all temporal for the first time.
The first drop was a bad case in itself. Gross phacodonesis. Anant vir jain tried his best but failed.
But i was shoceked with the second one. Never never expected it. Damn!! Curse it!
I was doing so well this month going from strength to strength. and then this!! Never will i be able to recover from the damage inflicte by this. Never again will they provide me the monday turn. Sad, so sad!

At the Phacoexcel 2006, i met Dr Kevin Miller MD of Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA. I had e mailed to him for the post of ophthalmic assisstant. My application was turned down. I did not speak to him though i at least got to see him and hear him. A year ago when the phaco workshop was held in madurai, i had gott o watch him through the live tele conference from san Francisco where he had conducted and demonstarted the experiment comparing the three phaco probes and the amount of heat each generated. ithink it was published in some issue of JCRA 2005. He is a person of fame and eminence in ophthalmology, especially phacoemulsification.

Besides him, another personality whom i met and spoke with was Dr Vasuvatha. His was also a very good and demonstrative talk where h described new way of chopping. The idea was profoundly simple and logical, but the way it was demonstrated made it very very impressive indeed.

Writing from pondicherry. Been attending aravind's phacoescel 2006. This was an unusual and interesting conference due to the fact this this is the first time where i took part. Of course, i made no presentations, but i got to assist trainees in the phaco wet lab. And today i met 2 ladies. One from Kerala working in Saudi, who promised never to write to me, though she promised to pass on to me some info about Saudi. I was then assisting a beautiful girl from Karnataka, who is in her first year of MS in Guntur. She was not even comfortable with the operating microscope. Though it was great fun teaching her.

Then i went to hotel Ananda Hill. its on Anna Salai. Kind of posh and expensive hotel. 3 star. I had a relaxing steam bath/sauna and an excellent jakuzzi . The only thing missing in the jakuzi was a beautiful naked european babe or babes. Two would be even better, especially if beside me, they were also ready to go down on each other. Man, that would be something.

I The guy in charge of the health club is 3 times overall Mr Pondicherry.

My second year of the fellowship in Madurai is proving to be a disaster health wise. I am getting sick very often, with cold, fever and respiratory tract infections. I have even suspected HIV infection and got myself tested. It came out to be negative. I wonder what is the cause of this sudden low immunity. I am generally a person of weak constitution but it was never this frequent. But even the last years of Davangere were pretty bad. In fact, twice i had underwent antral sinus drainage (for tnothing). Both the times the tap was dry.

Because of this, my greatestlove, weightlifting is suffering. I am simply not able to go to the gyms. I have been trying very hard to improve my quadriceps and my lats, and i think that my thighs are at their best. they naver had this defintion and mass, though even now its pretty mediocre. But what depressees me most is he fact thati am not ablt to visit the gym. That is another reason why i wish to leave india so badly. I keep falling sick in India. Hopefully i'll do better in the west, ifi make it there. Though even that is looking gloomy, though i think that nothing is impossible. i will make it if i try hard and serioudsly.
But what

With Moni in Australia i have now got a new direction. He has the australian pr and is my cousin brother. So by australian law he can be my sponsor. I am a skilled worker since i am a doctor though i am not registered with amc (australian medical council). Australia needs skilled labour. Moni says i should try to come into australia not as a nurse but as a doctor. But my medical qualifications must be reviewed by the amc. I do not posess any single degree recognised by the western world. I think i am eligible to enter australia with a visa under sponsored skilled category. i have got no response from Vicks and Bits pals in US. And all my spam applications, mainly to US, have been rejected.

Today did 27 SICS, both temporal and superior. All sorts of cases. Many mature and brown. Today for the first time felt that becoming a high volume SICS surgeon is a matter of time. It simply comes with time when one consistently keeps on doing large number of cases. I, personally, have no reason to become since i see and have no insentive to become a high volume. What is importeant to my mind is to learn good phaco in whatever time is left. I now have 2 months and 20 days left for the course if the course goes on undisturbed by its schedule.

I went out with Elena, Dean and David 2 days ago. Not planned. Just for an evening dinner. I wasnt very enthusiastic because mine was a working the day the following day. They took me to the roof top of the near by hotel. Amazingly, i had neevr been to the roof top. It was absolutely lovely. And what a night it turned out to be. Dean has to get the credit for making it a wonderful night. It was on this eventful evening that the four of us founded the Midnight Madurai Club. Dean introduced some games, drinking games he called them. And the onw which was an instant hit was the pyrmid. WEll, what follwed was a drinking binge of about 20 bottles of beer amonsgt the four of us.

I have been mailing to sweden for clinical and research postings at various hospitals. But it seems it is very difficult to get into EU as a doctor, for a non EU citizen. One thing is the language. I will need to prove my linguistic skill for that country by clearing the exam. Then i'll need the work permit. I am not sure how to get the second step.
But then, 2 days ago i was asked to take a class for ophthalmic assistants. and then i got the idea that why not ttry for a post as ophthalmic assisstant. It would definitely be much simpler to enter the western world as an OA with my qualifications. I discussed this idea with dean, the italian-american chap from New York. He said that it would be very easy, though he would not recommend it. But the idiot doesn't know how difficult it is for us bloody indians to get even the visa to enter any western world. I got to enter a develope country with some job, no matter what the pay is.

So today i went to internet full of optimism. i got the list of top 15 eye hospitals in the US. But as i searched more and more, i realized that there is no acess even via internet to apply for a job. Things are not easy. But this is only the beginning of my struggle and determination. There is a whole big world out there.
